Preliminaries

On Thursday, Oct. 31, beginning at 10 a.m. PT, all non-top 5 teams that come to Anaheim will be entered into a bracket tournament. The teams will be seeded into five brackets and will play first-to-three matches. The sixth to 10th seeds—United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden, Russia, and Finland—will each get byes into the second round of each bracket.

Group Stage Play

On Friday, Nov. 1, beginning at 12:15 p.m. PT, the five teams that advanced from the play-in tournament will be seeded into two groups along with the first to fifth seed teams (South Korea, Canada, China, France, and USA). Each team will play a three-map match against all the teams in their group. The top three teams by record will advance from each group with map differential as the tiebreaker.

Medal Rounds

On Saturday, Nov. 2, at BlizzCon, beginning at 10:15 a.m. PT, the top six teams will begin bracket play, with the top two teams receiving a first-round bye. Each match is first to three map wins. The winners of the two second-round matches will advance to the gold-medal match. The losers of the second-round matches will compete for the bronze medal.
