Following two Grandmasters seasons and six Masters Tours, we are gearing up to conclude the year with the Hearthstone 2020 World Championship! With $500,000 (USD) on the line, the top eight players in the world are set to meet on December 12-13 to see who will join the Hall of Champions and finish off 2020 as the next Hearthstone World Champion.

We recently asked each of the competitors a series of quick-fire questions to learn more about them ahead of the 2020 World Championship. Let’s get to know Luna “bloodyface” Eason.

The Veteran

A dominant force in competitive Hearthstone for six years, bloodyface is gearing up for her third consecutive World Championship. At the 2019 HCT World Championship she reached the Top 8, then made it all the way to the final match of the 2019 Global Finals where she lost 3-0 to Li “Liooon” Xiaomeng. With undeniable skill and dedication, bloodyface secured her seat at the 2020 World Championship when she defeated Eddie “Eddie” Lui 3-1 in the Grandmasters 2020 Season 1 finals.

HS Esports: What is your greatest strength at Hearthstone?

bloodyface: Being comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Playing to my outs and always having a game plan even when behind.

HS Esports: As one of the veterans of the competitive scene, what was the most significant moment in Hearthstone for you?

bloodyface: Making top 4 of Fall playoffs 2018. This was the big break I needed so I could prove myself on the big stage. This moment is what led to my pro career in Hearthstone.

HS Esports: Prior to Madness at the Darkmoon Faire, what has been your favorite deck from 2020?

bloodyface: Face Hunter before Scavenger Ingenuity nerf. One of the best decks in the meta and it was severely underplayed. It gave me one of the biggest edges in GM until Ingenuity was nerfed.

HS Esports: What is your favorite Hearthstone card back of all time?

bloodyface: Golden Celebration, so I can show off.

HS Esports: What has been the highlight of 2020 so far?

bloodyface: Winning GM. It was my second win in a row and it was especially awesome to make it to the finals vs my practice partner Eddie.

HS Esports: What is something about yourself most people may not know?

bloodyface: I love anime and Japanese culture. I’m currently trying to learn Japanese myself.

HS Esports: Other than yourself, who do you think has the best chance to win the 2020 World Championship?

bloodyface: One of the Chinese players. They have been playing better than others on average and their competitive system has motivated and elevated players higher than the rest of the world.

HS Esports: Why do you think you are going to win the 2020 World Championship?

bloodyface: Preparation. I’ll make sure I prepare more than anyone else including playing games against myself. I’ll try my best to predict what my opponents bring and have a good lineup vs it. I’ll also make sure I practice matchups enough so that I’m very familiar with them.

HS Esports: What does becoming the World Champion mean for you?

bloodyface: All the hard work and effort I’ve put in will be eternally recognized as a world champion. Even though I am already recognized as one of the best players, having the highest ranking title will forever cement my standing.
