North America Feeling (Super) Froggish

The Arena World Championship rumbled on in North America as Method Orange looked to all but seal BlizzCon qualification. The Move, on the other hand, were looking to continue a hot streak with the Summer Finals looming large.

Method Orange Fall Out Early

Method Orange have been one of the top two teams in North America for the entirety of the spring and summer seasons. Coming into the second North American cup, many expected that consistency to continue. Super Rejects put a damper on that early on, winning a second-round match 3-1 to drop the tournament favorites to the lower bracket. Misery for Method Orange continued in the lower bracket as Noble claimed a very solid 3-2 win over them.

The Move Stay on Top

The Move have been consistent this Summer Season, and their first-place point standing reflects that. Getting to the grand final having lost only one game, The Move looked to be heavy favorites against a Super Frogs roster they had just breezed past 3-1. Unfortunately, The Move could not close it out and dropped in a tight 4-2 series to the Super Frogs. Despite the disappointing result, The Move still end up first in points for North America—and with Method Orange’s struggles, could easily lock down that top spot.

Super Rejects do Enough

The Super Rejects have been hovering right around the fourth place mark all season, and while that is enough to qualify it’s never a safe margin. They took this week by storm, taking home the bronze medal and moving ever closer to a guaranteed spot in the Summer Finals. Though they should be happy with their results, the Super Rejects need to be worried slightly that they fell 3-1 to the Super Frogs twice.

Super Frogs Hop Over the Competition

The Super Frogs have been in fifth and were not touted as an early favorite for this tournament, but they’ve turned this into a tournament of doing just enough. The Super Frogs eked by Noble 3-2 before taking a tight 3-1 over the Super Rejects. In the upper bracket finals, The Move slid past Super Frogs 3-1 and sent Super Frogs back for another match against the Super Rejects. Another 3-1 in the books, the grand final now beckoned. With the stage set for an upset, the Super Frogs took the series 4-2, also becoming one of the first teams to beat the RPS other than The Move. Super Frogs will now have to perform to their pedigree with the spotlight on as they try to guarantee their spot into the Summer Finals.

The third European cup will pick up June 9 as XRB to the Moon look to sneak into a top four spot while Method Black continues their romp of the division. Tune in at 9:00 a.m. PDT to see if XRB can pull the comeback out .
