BlizzCon 2017 World of Warcraft Day 1 Wrap-Up

BlizzCon 2017 started in fine form with a multi-stage Opening Ceremony and a flurry of news. We've rounded up just some of the World of Warcraft highlights for you from around the show.

Big World of Warcraft News!

Production Director J. Allen Brack took to the main stage during the Opening Ceremony to announce World of Warcraft's seventh expansion: Battle for Azeroth,  revealed a features overview video,  and the opening cinematic in which the Horde and Alliance battle over Lordaeron. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Creative Director Alex Afrasiabi provided more information in the "World of Warcraft: What's Next?"* panel and were followed up later in the day by game designers Matt Goss, Jeremy Feasel, and  Russell Peterson in the "World of Warcraft: Gameplay and Systems Deep Dive"* .

Inside the World of Warcraft

The hosts of the popular World of Warcraft podcast Allcraft along with some special guests took to the stage* to discuss all things Warcraft—live from BlizzCon!

The Voices of Blizzard | The Powerful Women of World of Warcraft* brought forth the actors behind some of World of Warcraft most iconic heroines. Hosted by Senior Casting and VO Director Andrea Toyias, these talented voices brought their insights to the stage providing a look behind the blue curtain.

World of Warcraft Arena Championship

The World of Warcraft Arena Championships have provided non-stop action as the competitors took to the stage to battle head-to-head to see who will be crowned BlizzCon 2017's Grand Champion. Catch up on all the latest news and VoDs on the World of Warcraft esports site and get ready to root your favorite team on to victory when it all comes to a head on Saturday, November 4 beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT.
