Co-op Insanity: BlizzCon Challenge
The StarCraft II developers have crafted an impossible Mutation on the Void Launch Co-op Mission. Anyone attending BlizzCon will be able to try their luck and see how long they can survive. However, we also wanted to see how far we could push some of the best StarCraft II players in the world. Saturday morning, we’re pitting two teams of professionals to see how far they can go.
The format for the match is simple—each team will have one chance to survive as long as they can in the BlizzCon Challenge. The team that puts the most time on the clock is crowned the victor. We’re keeping the teams a secret, but you can expect high level players competing.
What makes this Co-op Mission such a challenge? If you’re familiar with our weekly Mutations, you know that each map adds one but no more than three special conditions known as Mutators. The BlizzCon Challenge actually only starts with a single Mutator . . . for the first 30 seconds. As time passes, another Mutator will be added, and then another, and then another, until TEN Mutators are running wild at the same time. Assuming the teams even last that long.
Here is just a taste of what the players can expect:
- Power Overwhelming: All enemy units have energy and use random abilities.
- Avenger: Enemy units gain increased attack speed, movement speed, armor, life, and life-regeneration when nearby enemy units die.
- Going Nuclear: Nukes are launched at random throughout the map.
Imagine trying to survive while contending with these and SEVEN MORE Mutators. We’re betting even the pros won’t survive. But we can’t wait to watch them try.
