INnoVation, arguably the most skilled player in the world at StarCraft II at this point in time, is set to face off against the defending WCS Global Finals Champion – Life. This matchup also represents an iconic showdown between star players from SK Telecom T1 and KT Rolster, and it starts this Friday at 1:30 PM.

Life is the defending Global Champion, and as for INnoVation... one might say he was made to play StarCraft II. While his dominance was stunted by a Hellbat nerf long ago, INnoVation has regained his momentum and is now a leading contendor to take the Global Finals. His record against Life this year only reinforces that he stands as the favorite in this match. In their four clashes this year, INnoVation has taken three victories, with Life narrowly taking a match all the way back in GSL 2015 Season 1. With a total record in 2015 of 6 games to 9 against INnoVation, Life has surely got his work cut out for him.

Life’s style has always been a scrappy Zerg, and that’s an excellent attribute to have against a player like INnoVation who is prone to taking early leads through his magnificent multitasking. Still, Life’s current form is shrouded in uncertainty; we know that he can deliver on the grandest of stages, but his results over the last several months have been lackluster at best. Will the familiar surroundings of the Anaheim Arena remind Life of what true champions can achieve? If there’s any opportunity for Life to return to his former glory… this is it.

Yet, at the same time, “the robot” will be seeking to stamp out any signs of life. INnoVation has been endowed with this nickname due to how he methodically dismantles his opponents into submissive surrenders. There is little room for creative flair in INnoVation’s play – he’s simply smarter, faster, and better than you. He has no need for tricks, he needs only to avoid being caught in them and its likely he’ll emerge victorious. INnoVation is a picturesque standard Terran who understands the power of bio strike-teams, and is fluent in the dance of endless parading units when it comes to ZvT.

There’s not a chance in the world you’d want to miss this match… it stands to possibly be the most difficult step Life must take in defending his Global Champion title. Yet there’s no denying that the odds are stacked against him, so one must ask… will Life find a way?
