Driven To Victory! - Introducing Competitive Drives

Season 12 is drawing to a close and this weekend is your chance to make one final push to climbing the Competitive ranks of the season and earn fun new rewards! Competitive Drives starts this weekend so keep reading to find out everything you need to know about this limited time event.

Earn More Competitive Points and New Rewards

You already earn Competitive Points as you play and win Competitive Play matches, but starting Friday, October 4 at 8:00 AM PT and going through Monday, October 7 at 8:00 AM PT there is an extra incentive to play Competitive Matches with a special Drive Meter currently in the Competitive Play menu. For every game you win, you’ll add Drive Score that fill the meter. Losing matches will cause you to lose a small amount of drive progress, however reaching each checkpoint guarantees your progress and rewards.

Earning Drive Points

Each time you win a match you’ll earn a Drive Score that is ten times the total Skill Rank percentage gained from that match. For example, if you earn 21% toward your next tier and division, then you’ll gain 210 Drive Points. Losing a match results in a having your Drive Score reduced five times the total Skill Rank percentage deduction, or half as much as a win gains.  So, losing a match that costs you 19% in your Competitive Rank progress will deduct 95 Drive Points.

Checkpoints and Rewards

At every checkpoint, you’ll earn either bonus Competitive Points or a new and exclusive cosmetic reward called a Signature, which is a stylized backing for your BattleTag as it appears throughout the game. Signatures can be seen in your Name Card, the hero portrait, Play of the Game highlight intros, and more. Once you complete a checkpoint, you cannot lose Drive Score below that threshold even if you lose more games.

Here is the breakdown for rewards.

  • Tier 1 – 300 Total Drive Points - 500 Competitive Points
  • Tier 2 – 700 Total Drive Points - Signature
  • Tier 3 – 1200 Total Drive Points - 1000 Competitive Points
  • Tier 4 – 1700 Total Drive Points - Advanced Signature
  • Tier 5 – 2200 Total Drive Points - 1500 Competitive Points
  • Tier 6 – 2700 Total Drive Points - Elite Signature

Power Up Your Signatures Every Drive

Each of the next three seasons (including Season 12) will include a new Drive to participate in. With each Drive you’ll be able to unlock a new prestige tier for your Signatures. Regardless of your Rank, only the most dedicated players will reach the highest prestige Elite Signature card and Complete a Drive. When the next Competitive Drive begins, your Signature will prestige, indicated by a Roman numeral counting the number of Drives you've completed in that Competitive Drives period across those three seasons. When a new Competitive Drives period begins, everyone’s Signature will be reset, and a new Signature reward will be available to earn during the following seasons.
