Corrupted at birth by the Burning Legion, responsible for introducing the fel-corrupted Orcs of Draenor to Azeroth, ruler of the mystical Tower of Karazhan, and last Guardian of Tirisfal; one could say that Medivh has led an interesting life. This isn’t the end of his tale though, as Medivh has now joined the mystical realm known as the Nexus!

Medivh is a powerful ranged Specialist who wields arcane powers to manipulate the battlefield to the benefit of his team—and to the detriment of his enemies. With the ability to create portals for his team and become an invulnerable Raven, players will soon learn that it’s great to have this Archmage on their side. Read on for more detailed info on some of his talents and Hero synergies.

Talent Highlights:

storm_ui_icon_dehaka_essencecollection.pngCircle of Protection – Applying the Protected status to a second target when Medivh casts Force of Will, Circle of Protection will be the go-to pick for players looking to stop area-of-effect and splash damage..

storm_ui_icon_dehaka_burrow.pngWinds of Celerity – The positional and informational advantages of Raven Form cannot be overstated. The only real downside is the reduced movement speed. With Winds of Celerity, you get the best of both worlds. Gaining an additional 100% movement speed while in Raven Form, Medivh can traverse the map in no time, scouting enemies along the way.

storm_ui_icon_dehaka_brushstalker.pngGuardian of Tirisfal– Medivh can struggle with wave clear in the early and mid-game, especially when compared some of the other specialist Heroes. That all changes when he picks up this talent, though. With Guardian of Tirisfal, Arcane Rift will instantly kill minions and catapults, making wave clear a cinch for this level 20 Archmage.

Friends and Foes:

Works well with:

Arthas.jpg

No longer will Warriors have difficulty engaging with the enemy team’s back-line thanks to Dark Portal. The terrifying damage and lockdown of Arthas combined with Medivh’s Dark Portals can instantly ruin a safe Assassin’s day.

Chromie.jpg

The scouting and positional information gained from Medivh’s Raven Form helps Chromie stay one step ahead of her enemies, landing skillshots with ease even while enemies hide behind walls and structures.

Lt. Morales’ healing potential is practically unmatched, but as most players have quickly learned, she is pretty easy to kill if caught out. Force of Will is great at mitigating incoming burst damage, and even the most dive-happy team will have to think twice about the resources they commit to killing Lt. Morales with Medivh by her side.

Struggles against:

Valla.jpg

Any hero that brings consistent, sustained damage will often put on more pressure than Medivh can handle. With Valla’s constant barrage of abilities and auto-attacks, Medivh will struggle to keep his team – and himself - alive.

Jaina.jpg

Large area of effect damage abilities can be a major nuisance for Medivh to deal with. With the option of using Force of Will on multiple allies coming online so late (level 16), a few well-placed Blizzards in the heat of battle will have him scrambling to figure out who to save.

Sylvanas.jpg

The perfect Dark Portal engage can be completely nullified if your team is unable to follow up immediately. The silence and crowd control effects of Sylvanas’ Heroic abilities are very dangerous against teams looking to make good use of portals.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this celebration of the Last Guardian (and second Archmage) to join us in Heroes of the Storm. We’ll see you all in the Nexus!
