Meet the Asia-Pacific Contenders: 2021 World Championship

Following two Grandmasters seasons and six Masters Tours, we are gearing up to conclude the year with the Hearthstone 2021 World Championship! With $500,000 (USD) on the line, the top eight players in the world are set to meet this weekend on December 18-19 to see who will join the Hall of Champions and finish off 2021 as the next Hearthstone World Champion.

We recently asked each of the competitors a series of quick-fire questions to learn more about them ahead of the weekend’s tournament. Let’s get to know the two Asia-Pacific contenders!

Posesi – The Successor

In 2017, Posesi broke onto the Hearthstone scene with a Top 4 finish at the World Electronic Sports Games in Japan. From that moment on, “living in Hearthstone began to take on reality” and he soon proved himself a global talent. He entered the Masters ecosystem with another Top 4 showing during Masters Tour Las Vegas, helping secure his spot in Grandmasters where he has remained as a stalwart competitor ever since. His showing in the Grandmasters 2021 Season 1 Finals against blitzchung, a strong 3-1 finish, that secured a spot in his first World Championship! Serving as glory’s 2020 practice partner helped his fellow Japanese player secure a championship, so is 2021 Posesi’s year to secure Japan as the seat of the World Championship trophy?
