Off-Meta Report - July 24, 2018

Looking for a change of pace on the ladder? Maybe you’ve been wanting to try something new, but don’t know where to start. Or maybe you want to play a class you haven’t really tried out before. If you’ve been looking for something different, take a look at our Off-Meta Report and really shake things up with these decks, all of which have been making waves in the rank of Legend!

To find these decks, we looked for players that have been doing well, and picked out some builds from amongst the top performers. We only selected decks that were played in 50 or more games at Legend level.

Control Paladin – 63.5% win rate/63 games

This variation of Control Paladin takes advantage of some of Paladin’s strongest tools to help set up a late game surprise. Fighting for the board early, the low-cost minions of this deck help to hold on until later turns, allowing time for Uther of the Ebon Blade to come in and help stabilize the game. With Uther in play, use Zola the Gorgon and Ancient Brewmaster to assemble all the Horseman and devastate your opponent in one fell swoop.

Quest Priest – 71.4% win rate/63 games

Up next is a Quest Priest variation that looks to take advantage of Priest’s ability to take games into later turns, with the burst potential granted from the Legendary Prophet Velen. This deck has ways to play tons of cheap Deathrattle minions to help assure the completion of Awaken the Makers. Once you have obtained Amara, Warden of Light and set your health to 40, Shadowreaper Anduin and a pair of Mind Blasts turn on the aggression to end the game.

Zoo Cubed Warlock – 60.6% win rate/66 games

We have seen many variations of Warlock over the seasons. This build looks to combine the early pressure of Zoo with the late game stability of Cube-Lock. Early plays resemble that of any Zoo Warlock, utilizing a strong lineup of low cost minions to help apply pressure and control the battlefield. Things take a turn midgame though, as the deck moves towards a more familiar “Cube-Lock” style of play. Playing high-cost demons with the help of Skull of Man’ari, the deck then uses cards such as Carnivorous Cube, Ratcatcher and Spiritsinger Umbra to maximize the Deathrattle effects of your minions. Then looks to end it all by summoning Bloodreaver Gul’dan.
