Blizzard’s virtual Take Your Child to Work Day returns for 2021

As Blizzard continues to work from home, so do the children of Blizzard employees. Last year, we tried a virtual Take Your Child to Work day for the first time, and we had so much fun and learned so much that we decided to do it again this year!

This time around, we decided to let our imaginations run wild—we asked the next generation of Blizzard to describe what epic game they would like to make, and their answers were. . . well, perfect!

Employees from around the company prepared talks around all kinds of disciplines, including software engineering, design, program management, art, accessibility, security, communications—kids even got to take a look at what’s involved in being a curator for our statues and art!

This year, we also ran three live sessions with artists from around Blizzard. Kids learned how to draw Tracer from visual development artist Will Murai, contributed suggestions for a Hearthstone card with senior concept artist Luke Mancini, and storyboard artists Jerry Gaylord and Micah Lewis walked participants through how to storyboard an idea, with steps kids could follow along with.

We think you’ll agree that this is the work of some incredible future game developers!

We didn’t want to keep all the fun to ourselves, though: check out the links below to try your hand at some drawing or coloring in!
