Warzone™ Mastery: Shipwreck, Missile Silos, and Zombies Outbreak Event

Today, a season of chaos comes to Verdansk.

Season Two for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone brings four new points of interest to the massive city’s once-idle surrounding countryside, as a massive Shipwreck coincided with the opening of three Missile Silos that many believed were decommissioned decades ago. This vessel, for years thought to be lost at sea, held an unspeakable horror that brings undead creatures ashore to Verdansk, turning what was just a fabled nightmare in October into a horrifying threat for Operators to overcome.

Here is how you can help fight back the new hordes through a limited-time event and what you can expect across Verdansk at the start of Season Two, from the new points of interest to the underground areas that are now closed due to a decontamination protocol.

Zombies

Zombies Outbreak Challenge Event – Live Until March 11

Across Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, Operators can do their part to help Verdansk contain the undead and assist Requiem in their research operations in Outbreak, all while receiving rewards for their efforts through this limited-time event.

Like previous events in Warzone, Operators can complete a set of challenges that will award them with Charms, Stickers, Emblems, Calling Cards, and ultimately, Weapon Blueprints. This challenge list can be found on the event’s hub page between the “Play” and “Weapon” sections of the Warzone menu.

For the Zombies Outbreak Event, Operators will have two sets of nine objectives to complete: one specific to Warzone and one within the new Outbreak game mode in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Finishing all nine objectives within a set results in being awarded a Weapon Blueprint.

Here’s the full list of objectives broken down by game mode and their exclusive Weapon Blueprint reward, including a quick tip on how to complete each one.

Handgun

Warzone Objectives – “Teal Drop” Rare Handgun Blueprint

Note: all these challenges below must be completed in Warzone.

1. Kill 25 zombies with headshots.

This challenge should be second nature, as any undead hunter knows that headshots deal massive damage to the undead.

2. Eliminate 100 zombies.

These undead creatures can be found within the new Shipwreck point of interest… for now.

3. Use lethal equipment to kill 25 zombies.

Try finding some C4 and lure a horde into running over it, should you have trouble completing this objective.

4. Use vehicles to eliminate 25 zombies.

Drive an ATV or other small vehicle into the Shipwreck POI to make quick work of this challenge.

5. Eliminate 5 zombies in a single match 5 times.

So long as you consistently go for the horde across multiple games, this should not be too difficult.

6. Use shotguns to eliminate 25 zombies.

If you can’t find a shotgun as ground loot, take one into Verdansk via Loadout Drop… and keep it around after taking out the zombies for extreme close-quarters fights or for finishing off downed opponents.

7. Rapidly kill 2 or more zombies 3 times.

C4 and vehicle usage aside, go for headshots and try grouping zombies together to make it easier to earn rapid kills.

8. Use pistols to eliminate 25 zombies.

That starting pistol will do the job just fine here so long as you aim for the head, or have a squadmate use a more powerful weapon for the assist.

9. Eliminate 25 zombies before the first circle closes.

Try dropping immediately onto the Shipwreck POI and don’t hold back on the horde… or enemy Operators also chasing this challenge.

Black Ops Cold War Zombies Outbreak Objectives – “Gray Matter” Epic Sniper Rifle Blueprint

Note: all these challenges must be done in Outbreak in Black Ops Cold War.

1. Successfully Exfil 3 times.

The longer an Outbreak session goes, the harder it is to exfiltrate, so consider going for the Exfil after one successful objective completion if your squad is having a tough time escaping the Ural Mountains.

2. Eliminate 250 zombies.

Sounds daunting, but this will be completed naturally by picking off wandering hordes and by starting new objectives.

3. Eliminate 10 Elites.

Both the Megaton and the Krasny Soldat are considered Elite zombies, and are marked with a white skull inside a downward-facing red triangle in-game. They are tough to tackle alone without an upgraded weapon, so if you’re not well-equipped, ensure that your entire squad is focused on taking one of these deadly monstrosities down.

4. Open 25 Chests.

Explore the designated Outbreak zone as thoroughly as possible to find Chests, using vehicles to cover large stretches of land between these item caches.

5. Complete 3 World Events.

Through natural exploration, you should come across at least one World Event per region. Keep your eyes peeled for strange happenings far from the main experiment, and no matter what the World Event is, always be prepared for a fight.

6. Warp 10 times.

Once you complete a main objective and reach the safe area, you can skip the Exfil and continue through the portal for this objective. You’ll also be on your way to completing others at the same time, as well as earning better rewards.

7. Eliminate 3 Special Zombies.

The Mangler and Mimic are both considered Special enemies, and are marked in the overworld and the mini-map with a simple white skull icon outlined in red. You can find them as part of the Eliminate objective, or after multiple portal jumps in the wild.

8. Use vehicles to eliminate 100 zombies.

The Sedan and Light Truck are incredible offensive tools in addition to being faster transportation methods. Just keep their health in mind, as it’s easy for them to sustain damage from the undead hordes.

9. Complete 10 Objectives.

Across all the main objectives in Outbreak, teamwork is key. Grab your friends and make your communications clear and concise to help Requiem research the latest Dark Aether outbreaks.

Ship

Lay of the Land – Shipwreck

Last sighted off the coast of Rebirth Island, the doomed cargo tanker known as the Vodianoy, thought lost after it disappeared on a voyage to the Port of Verdansk, has reappeared. More alarmingly still, it has run aground in the low estuary of swamp ground less than a klick west of the Zordaya Prison Complex.

This colossal seafaring structure further populates the southern Verdansk coast with additional areas to explore for loadout items, as well as a new potential hot spot for increasingly brutal combat.

Outside of parachuting into or onto the Shipwreck, this new point of interest can be accessed via two exterior ascenders or through the ship’s hull.

Ship Side

The first ascender is on starboard-side facing out toward the vast sea, with its landing on the accommodations level of the ship’s forecastle deck. Its general location can make it the safe option for reaching the ship’s deck from the ground, although a sniper on the Prison’s battlements can still easily catch someone taking a ride up here. On portside toward midship is the other exterior ascender, which leads to the ship’s main deck near the stairwell to the hold. While this ascender is the fastest way to reach the ship’s deck, it leaves Operators exposed to enemies approaching from the North, especially if a sniper perches up anywhere between the Port of Verdansk and the Prison Complex.Shipwreck

Then there is the obvious entrance into Shipwreck: a massive gaping hole made when the Vodianoy split into two. This may be the quickest way to get right into the action, albeit at a severe height disadvantage against those on the upper deck or within the hold itself.

Once on board, there are seven major sections of Shipwreck. .

Ship deck

1. Forecastle

The ship’s front section includes a wide-open deck, a wrap-around balcony that serves as a landing platform for an exterior ascender, an accessible accommodations room above this balcony, and sets of stairs and ladders to another balcony just below the crow’s nest. This incredible lookout post can only be accessible via the initial infiltration or with the help of a helicopter.

Mid Ship

2. Starboard Midship

This network of stairs leading up to the upper Forecastle decks, crow’s nest, and Midship Accommodations acts as a transition area to the rest of the ship. Note the small set of crates and a blue shipping container that can act as cover, along with a lifeboat that hangs above a square lookout platform.

Side of ship

3. Port Midship

Similar in design to the stair network on starboard-side, this section of the midship offers access to both the Forecastle and Midship Accommodations. Be mindful of squads approaching from the north while traversing through here, and check the lifeboat for any hidden survivors.

Back of Ship

4. Midship Accommodations (Upper)

Accessible from either of the outdoor Midship staircases or the upper Forecastle decks, this small room offers reasonable cover from the elements and a solid vantage point over the Hatch at the ship’s stern. Operators with enough mobility can easily jump out a window and reach a lifeboat hanging above either side of the ship. Outside of these Accommodations is an Ammo Cache, which will partially resupply ammo to your current weapons.

Ship rooms

5. Midship Accommodations (Lower)

Disconnected from the upper level, this interior space serves as a connective hallway between both sides of the ship and a stairwell down to the Hold. During your decent or ascent, check the locker area and pipe room for potential caches or extreme close-quarters scraps.

Hatch

6. Hatch

A giant hatch defines what was once the Vodianoy’s dead center. When it was operational, cranes would drop cargo through here down into the hold. Now it serves as a massive opening into action down below, with containers and crates surrounding it for additional cover. Past the hatch itself and before the end of the broken ship, there is a tiny interior space that may contain loadout items, but otherwise serves as decent cover from aerial Killstreaks.

7. Hold

A set of catwalks, one with a small overlook room, flank what remains of the Vodianoy’s cargo hold, where shipping containers, boxes, and barrels break up the otherwise open rusted metal floor. Few know what cargo the Vodianoy held down here, but bold Operators might be rewarded for finding out. Escape the Hold via the massive hole left when the ship made landfall, or through archways at either end to reach the staircase up to Midship.

Lay of the Land – Missile Silos

Just around the time the Vodianoy arrived in Verdansk, a team of Operators discovered Missile Silos hidden underneath the city’s three war monuments: the Jarvdinsk Spomenik above the Arklov Peak Military Base, the Zoszni Spomenik southeast of the Novi Grazna Hills, and the Styor Spomenik in Tavorsk Park.

Missile Silos

Jarvdinsk Spomenik

The most obvious location out of the three Missile Silos, the Jarvisnk Spomenik war memorial turned out to be the perfect place to hide a warhead within Verdansk and was originally constructed as two halves over a sliding mechanism. With a true crisis now imminent, someone activated this mechanism and split the monument’s wings further apart, revealing an open blast door down to a massive nuclear missile ready for launch.

Missile

Jump down onto the catwalk around the warhead and explore the control rooms surrounding the main silo for caches and other loadout items. Escape this underground area through an escape hatch out to the snowy mountainside facing the Military Base or, if no action is happening at the war memorial, ascend through the main blast door opening.

Zoszni Spomenik

South of the Novi Grazna Hills residences, the once beautiful set of vertical mandibles is replaced with an open hatch down to another silo. This Missile Silo contains more rooms to explore compared to the one at the Jarvdisnk Spomenik. Walk through several sets of doors to reach areas such as a Soviet meeting space and a few control rooms containing Cold War-era computers.

bombed-out holeIn addition to the exterior ascender through the hatch, there is a bombed-out hole facing north towards the Home Construction Site that can be used as an escape route.

Bunker

Styor Spomenik

The lone Missile Silo whose projectile has yet to breach the surface is located at the edge of Tavorsk Park south of the bustling Downtown Tavorsk District. Its one-and-only entrance is within the notorious Bunker 10 right near the Styor Spomenik. The few who know this bunker well will find familiar sights of item caches as far as the eyes can see, in addition to a new hallway to explore as well.

Underground Locations Closed for Decontamination

With missiles ready to launch and a new undead threat making landfall, Operators around Verdansk will find a few familiar underground locations are no longer accessible.

Namely, the Subway System is offline, the Stadium’s underground parking structure is closed, and any restricted areas that required special codes for access (save for Bunker 10, which is the Styor Spomenik Missile Silo) are completely shut down due to safety protocols.

Plan your drops and travel across Verdansk accordingly.

Top Five Tips for Shipwreck and Missile Silos

5. Take a Good Hard Look…

Although it has plenty of open space on its decks and in the hold, Shipwreck also contains interior stairwells and small rooms that are hotbeds for CQB combat. Be sure to check those corners, listen closely for footsteps, and toss equipment into rooms where you think an enemy might be present.

4. Snipers off the Port Bow!

When on the Shipwreck’s decks, especially towards the front and left side of the ship, watch out for sniper glints and squads coming from other popular areas, such as the Port of Verdansk and the Zordaya Prison Complex.

3. Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The ill-fated passengers of the Vodianoy are said to still be haunting the ship to this day. During the Zombies Outbreak Event, keep your eyes peeled for a familiar computer that is said to bring out these undead, and you may be rewarded for surviving the ensuing assault.

2. Abandon Ship!

Because it is on Verdansk’s southern border, Shipwreck is considered a higher risk location since circle collapses can fall far from it. Always check your Tac Map to track the incoming collapses, and consider completing a Recon Contract or two to stay ahead of other squads trying to do the same.

1. Dangerous Drops.

Expect these four new areas to be high traffic areas within the first weeks of Season Two, so be prepared for a fight in exchange for a great chance at loading up on loadout items. This is especially true for the Missile Silo near the Styor Spomenik that only has a single exit, which is just begging for multi-team fights to happen right after the initial infiltration.

Execute the mission.
