Purge Your Sin with the Season 13 Battle Pass

Blizzard Entertainment

May you expunge sin from Sanctuary with each demon slain, adventurer.

Since we’ve met, your pursuit of evil has led you to the darkest corners of Sanctuary. Many of you rallied your allies during the All Clans on Deck limited-time event, played across Hell Difficulties with ease, and birthed unique character builds using 36 new Legendary Items. This content update ushers in a new Battle Pass, the Helliquary Gauntlet mode, 3 limited-time events, and a litany of updates to existing features.

As with previous content updates, there will be server maintenance starting on May 9, from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. PDT for Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe Servers, and on May 10, from 1 a.m.–3 a.m. PDT for servers in the Americas. After the maintenance has concluded, all items mentioned below will be live—specific dates for any content going live afterward are provided below.

Feature Updates

Helliquary Gauntlet

You may have defeated them once, but could you pull off such a feat again? How about in succession? The Helliquary Gauntlet is a new mode that unlocks after defeating Catarag, the Strangling Sun on Hell Difficulty VIII. Steady your weapon and strike through each Helliquary boss as fast as you can to earn rewards and cement your name among other skilled demon slayers on the Helliquary Gauntlet Leaderboard. Players can begin a Helliquary Gauntlet Raid as frequently as they like and will receive bountiful boons such as random Set Items, random Legendary Items, Demonic Remains and more for their first completion.

Be lean, aim for speed! Players who land a top-10 spot on the Leaderboard for their server by the end of the week will receive the Voidwound Gauntlet Champion Avatar Frame to sport during the Helliquary Gauntlet season. If that player can retain their top-10 spot until the season ends, they’ll get to keep their Avatar Frame for good.

Helliquary Raid

Helliquary Raids have been updated in two ways:

  • When a player dies more than once during a Raid, resurrecting them will incur an increasing cooldown.
  • When Helliquary bosses enrage, they will periodically emit a damaging pulse which scales in damage after each use.

  • Winter’s Eye: Ice Armor’s damage has been increased.

Accursed Towers

We’ve received a variety of feedback around one tower bonus and have adjusted both this tower and improved Cursed Shards gathering to better balance Accused Towers.

Starting with the next Accursed Towers season, the 20% increase to PvP damage provided by the Tower of Fortitude will be replaced with a bonus that provides a 10% increase to Life in Battleground, Challenge of the Immortal, Rite of Exile, and Shadow War.

Additionally, the pickup radius of Cursed Shards in PvE matches has been increased.

Battleground Queue Cancelation Penalty Iteration

The Battleground queue cancelation penalty that was introduced in a previous content update has been iterated upon. Now, players who cancel Battleground matches on the Match Found screen will incur a penalty that increases upon each offense, with a maximum 20-minute penalty where the offender won’t be able to queue.

Developer’s Note: The original penalty helped to curb some of the negative behavior we initially observed, but we felt the queuing process could be improved by making the penalty more severe for those that are determined to disrupt matchmaking.

Activity Calendar

To equip Clans and Warbands with additional scheduling features to aid in planning activities, the option to schedule an Event to recur weekly has been added to the Activity Calendar.

Cosmetics Inventory Display

The Cosmetics in the Inventory Cosmetics tab will now display rarity frames to help players differentiate between tiers.

View Equipped Cosmetics on Others

The exact Cosmetics a player is wearing and where to obtain them can now be viewed through that player’s profile via a new Cosmetics tab.

Horadric Bestiary

The chance of obtaining a new Bestiary Page is increased when offering Monstrous Essence to the Horadric Altar for the first time each day.

Fractured Plane

In a place like Sanctuary, even those with the utmost mental fortitude can find themselves lost to the unrelenting darkness spread by the Burning Hells. Broken. Shattered. Trapped in the deepest recesses of their mind. Entering the Fractured Plane is the only way forward.

The Fractured Plane is a limited-time event where players enter an unexplored realm of their existence. A 15-floor gauntlet awaits, inhabited by the fiercest minions the Hells can throw your way. Your journey in the Fractured Plane begins without your usual gear, gems, and skills. Instead, you will be provided with a set of pre-selected skills for your class. To advance, you must rely solely on your wits, unstable gear you find, and the Chaos Coins you receive from progressing through hordes of demons. Best of all, only unstable gear of Legendary rarity will drop in the Fractured Plane, and items you receive will complement the skills you begin with, equipping you with the ability to make, and tweak, your build on the fly. When your journey in the Fractured Plane is over, all the unstable gear you’ve collected will vanish.

The Chaos Coins you earn will also come to your aid—spent at the Chaos Broker, you can exchange Chaos Coins for new items or Shards of Fortune. These shards will increase your Fortune Rating, providing a greater chance of receiving higher-quality Legendary items from chests on each floor. If you’re resourceful enough to make it to the fifteenth floor without dying more than five times, you’ll receive a reward. Out of all the Legendary items you’ve encountered during your run, select six, and out of those six, you will be rewarded one at random for you to carry out of the Fractured Plane.

Begin your journey towards mental appeasement—the Fractured Plane is available from May 10, 3 a.m.–May 24, 3 a.m. server time.

Shady Stock

“Yakin: If you’ve got the tok…erhm…gold, I’ve got the goods.
Yakin: Ok, you’ve caught me. But you seem to be the trustworthy sort—come back with Shady Tokens and I’ll let you browse the advanced wares reserved for “special” patrons.”

Yakin has once again come into possession of some liberated merchandise, likely plucked from a far-away excavation. To gain access to his Shady Stock, players must run Daily Tasks for Yakin, such as clearing specific dungeons, identifying gear, and purchasing items from his standard inventory. Doing so will earn you Shady Tokens, which can be exchanged for random Legendary Items. If you’re cunning enough to exchange three Shady Tokens for Legendary Items, Yakin will reward you with one of his most rarefied trinkets, a random Set Item.

Better make haste, adventurer. Yakin’s Shady Stock is in high demand and will be available to peruse from May 10, 3 a.m.–May 17, 3 a.m. server time, or until Westmarch’s guards raid his supply.

But you, adventurer, have consigned your days to thinning out the ranks of the Burning Hells, ushering in safety where all hope was once lost. The downtrodden look up to you, and to continue serving them, you must walk the sandy wastes of the Scorched Sea. From May 17, 3 a.m.–May 25 at 3 a.m. server time, completing daily Scorched Sea tasks will unlock various milestone rewards for your heroics, such as:

  • Complete 3 tasks: 1 random Legendary Item
