Survive Sinister Haunts in Hallow’s Wake
Oh…how kind of you to join us, mortal. Your soul shall fit quite nicely among our tormented ranks!
Sanctuary’s air is rife with ill-intended magic, and not the usual variety—you’ve made it just in time for Hallow’s Wake, a limited-time spectacle filled with fright! The night grows dark; deciphering between man and beast is nearly impossible. Is it a trick of the mind, or something far more foreboding?
The generals of the Burning Hells have unleashed their most clever magic—the ability to alter time itself. Starting on October 11, the server time will be thrust forward by an hour for all Oceania servers.
As with previous content updates, there will be server maintenance starting on October 10, from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. PDT for Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe servers, and on October 11, from 1 a.m.–3 a.m. PDT for servers in the Americas. After the maintenance has concluded, all items mentioned below will be live—specific dates for any content going live afterward are provided below.

Hallow’s Wake Holiday Event
Digging upward towards its freedom, the decayed hands of an undead jutted out from the muddy ground. Its fingers wriggled in anticipation of celebrating an annual moment of freedom. After a moment of stillness, the undead hastily clawed downward to exhume itself from an unmarked mound—another rotting corpse followed, then another. The first undead to meet Sanctuary’s moonlight let out a deep grunt, a spry cadaver only recently having been buried then forgotten. A horde of dead scrambled to their feet; they pressed their maggot-infested shoulder blades together, until the first began to shamble forth, and the rest followed.
To the horde's dismay, they stumbled across other unsightly creatures occupying the town’s square. Some were adorned with horned facial coverings representing foul beasts, others were draped in tapestries most unsightly. One curious corpse inched over to the nearest monster, but instead of attacking in a rabid craze, it paused...
The mortal hidden underneath the costume quaked with fear as he was approached, but remembered the training his town underwent year-after-year, preparing for this very moment. He steeled himself. The undead in front of him smelled putrid—it had gashes across its body and an eye bulging out of its head—a face not even a mother could love. The man refused to waver, waiting out the inspection, hoping to live long enough to enjoy the Hallow’s Wake feast later. His adversary dwelled for what felt like an eternity, then lost interest, slowly shuffling away. Looking around in a restrained panic, the man noticed other townsfolk had survived similar encounters; it seems their costumes stood the test.
The undead left the town, pressing forward in search of their next meal; they would have but one single eve to find it. The man ran to the edge of the square and lifted his mask above his head. He watched the undead march to a nearby wood and disappear in the tree line. “It worked," he thought, wiping the sweat that dripped from his brow. "We’re safe for another year.”

Feature Updates
Class Balance
We’ve adjusted multiple Classes to bring increased balance to PvP activities and allow more Class builds to flourish in a fight.
Developer’s Note: With the newly added additional 30% damage reduction, the Blood Knight, Necromancer, and Wizard have been overperforming in terms of survivability.
Blood Knight
- Solemn Snare (Shoulders): Swarm of Bats Now shrouds you in a fog of blood mist, increasing your Movement Speed and making you untargetable while also dealing damage to nearby enemies. Duration decreased from 2 seconds to 1.6 seconds.
Necromancer
- Borrowed Time: Cooldown increased from 30 to 35 seconds.
Wizard
- Nor the Hail-Nursed (Chest): Ice Armor now also reduces the damage you take. Damage reduction decreased from 20% to 15%.
- Alder Crystal (Off-Hand): Arcane Wind now also freezes chilled enemies for 2.4 seconds. Cannot occur more often than once every 3 seconds. Cannot occur to players every 5 seconds (this remains at 3 seconds for monsters).
Replay Dungeon Option
A new Replay Dungeon feature has been added for parties of any size. Once your party has reached the end of a Dungeon, the player who clicks/taps the exit portal will have the option to invite their party to run the Dungeon again. If the whole Party accepts, they will be teleported to the beginning of the Dungeon.
This feature is not available for players who are grouped together using Random Dungeon Finder.
Item Combat Rating
Combat Rating for items have been revamped. Items with more attributes will have a higher Combat Rating. Item Combat Rating will not increase in Paragon Levels: 880–900, 980–1,000, and 1,080–1,100.
Because the Combat Rating of items has increased, the difficulty of the Helliquary Gauntlet in Inferno III has increased.
Shadow War
We have made a couple of updates to Shadow War.
- A barrier has been added to the spawn’s entrance to prevent players from being killed there.
- The time to prepare for a match has increased from 5 to 10 minutes. Matches now begin at 7:40 server time.
- Sacred Guardian movement speed has been increased.
- Shadow War rewards are now sent to the player via in-game mail.
Challenge Rift Monsters
In Challenge Rifts, monsters will no longer return to their starting point after moving too far away.
Developer’s Note: We sought to improve the combat experience of Challenge Rifts as this is a mode where players have great capability to express their skill and knowledge. Allowing players extra freedom in how they manipulate monsters with less worry of losing monster groups because they return to their starting position should make for more dynamic gameplay and enable players to push their builds to the limit.
Paragon Trees
Players can now quickly fill out nodes on their Paragon Trees using a new Quick Add function. We hope this feature update leads to less time spent on this menu and will make resetting your Paragon Points a breeze.
Inventory
Low-level Fabled Wisps can now be destroyed. We believe this change will provide players with increased inventory management options.
Also, a new Cosmetics tab has been added to the Inventory. The Hallow’s Wake Costumes and Fishing Rod and other items that temporarily alter the appearance of your character will be stored here.
